I keep it short... All my data stored on external USB Hard Drive is lost ( after 5 months of use )... i moved everything on this drive to save some space on PC regular drive so all samples all my synth presets everything is GONE... i dont even have strength to be mad - this is just to much...

so bottomline Dont buy Samsung hard drives - its going to be bad ( or very very bad if some of your data is something made by you )

Noted, but I've never used anything other than WD. My old WD 80GB HDD is still kicking after 5 years.

Yes... WD is my Fav to - use to have PC from 96 year up in the attic - with WD caviar 852 mb - i turn it on 4 years earlier and it was working ( and im sure it gonna work today ) - so thats 14 years... nothing but WD from now on - no experiments.

I also have 60 gb 80 gb and 320 hb WD HDD - they also work perfectly good.

Yep WD for me too, I had a Freecom 1TB Tank from when they were a mad price; the bastard died on me too.

Lately I've bought a Lacie drive it seems to be going well although it keeps going idle after a few minutes,
which is very frustrating when editing as you have to wait for it to load after a few moments absence!

I find as technology develops my patience dissolves :(

Posted Image I use to have this one and as u see it look solid and make a good impresion ( so they got me fooled )... and more then 600 gb of data is gone

i have to pay for recovery by myself now because Samsung is washing their hands from responsibility ( they say they can only replace HDD - so f.. them )

I could make a backup - sure ( on 50 DVD's or not so price attractive blue ray ) but it was only a 5 mouths - so i don't saw it coming..

Its 21 century - To bad there is still no cheep data backup - this blueray disc should cost less - for the cost of 15 disc (50 GB each) ( u can buy new WD HDD with 2 tb - so its not cheep alternative )

You were one of the sufferers of the COMPAQ blues too, eh? Yeah promised myself never to buy anything even remotely associated with COMPAQ (hence my distrust to anything with HP on it too).

Always went with WD since I bought my first external in 2006. I've got a Seagate one too but I trust WD a lot more. This is actually a case where it's worth the little extra money.

^ i used to have that Samsung HDD, i don't have any problems with it. but not using it anymore since i just got a 1TB Seagate portable HD.

well, i guess, you should've agreed with them replacing or giving you a new HD, so you've got 2 now. hehe

I was never silly enough to buy a compaq, but I know plenty of people who did and got burnt
